Everything has a birthday


It's apparent that everything has a birthday. Even the traditional cocktail drink, the Martini. The Martini has turned 200. It amazes me that people even 200 years ago not only drank alcoholic beverages back then but discovered the Martini. The first Martini ever invented was the Ward 8 ($8), which included the following ingredients:

2 oz Blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 Lemon
1 tsp Grenadine
1 tsp Powdered sugar
1 slice Orange
1 Cherry

The definition of the word "Cocktail" is a stimulating liquor, composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water, and bitters. Back in the day, Colonial New Englanders made a lot of rum, it was pretty much their specialty. And they obviously needed to make a drink out of it. Who knew that it would not only be one of the most popular drinks 200 years later, but they have hundred's of different recipe's to choose from. Check out the storyhere:
